Ignatius Crew enjoyed one of its most successful years in team history during the 2006-2007 school year. In the fall, the team brought home at least one top-five finish at each of its local regattas and, for the first time, sent two eights to the prestigious Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston. In five spring regattas, the program produced 22 medal-winning boats, which speaks to the depth and the talent across the program. Competing against 50 high school teams at the Midwest Scholastic Rowing Championships, Ignatius sent three boats to semifinals and brought home the second gold medal in the program's history in the boys lightweight four. The team was then proud to send two boats to the Scholastic Nationals in Camden, NJ, to compete against many of the top high school programs in the country. The girls varsity eight qualified for the third-level finals, while the boys lightweight four capped an impressive season with a fourth-place finish. The team is graduating seven seniors--three of whom will be rowing in college for varsity-level programs. Ignatius Crew's athletes, parents and coaches enjoyed a tremendous year and are already preparing for a terrific 2007-2008 campaign. |
